 Yiannis Garyfallos is a PhD candidate
at the Graduate Program in the History and Philosophy of Science and
Technology that is offered jointly by the Philosophy and History of
Science Department of the National and Kapodistrian University of
Athens, and the Humanities and Social Studies Sector of the Applied
Mathematics and Natural Sciences School of the National Technical
University of Athens. He holds a MA degree from the aforementioned
Graduate Program, and a Diploma from the Philosophy and History of
Science Department of the National and Kapodistrian University of
Athens.
The first phase of his PhD research was
supported by a fellowship from the Greek State Fellowship Foundation.
He participated as a research assistant in several projects on the
history of technology in Greece, awarded to the National and
Kapodistrian University of Athens and the National Technical
University of Athens between 2005 and 2007. He is currently
participating in the Inventing Europe/Eurocrit Research Program as a
member of the Greek Associated Project's team. He is a member of
the Society for the History of Technology (SHOT), the Tensions of
Europe network (ToE) and the Science and Technology in the European
Periphery research Group (STEP). He speaks Greek, English and German.
